BRIEF HISTORY

On October 11, 1963, the Bawku Senior High School was formally established with a student population of fifty people and three teachers. The late Dr. Agyeman Dicksion served as the school’s principal at the time. In the past, people also referred to it as the Azoka Secondary School. It was a secondary school that was founded by the Ghana Education Trust and was one of the schools that it founded.

On the main road that leads from Bawku to Bolgatanga, the school may be found in the western portion of town, approximately 5 km distant from the commercial and administrative heart of the community. It is situated on a vast parcel of land that is around 100 hectares in size and has the capacity for significant expansion.

The only option for attending the school is to board.

  1. MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS OVER THE YEARS

SSCE

The school performed creditably during the phased-out SSCE which saw a lot of the students entering the University to pursue various courses.

WASSCE

The academic performance of the school has improved tremendously over the past few years.  The 2009 WASSCE results in which the school scored 100% passes for the first time since 1993 is an ample proof of the positive wind of change blowing over the academic fortunes of the school.
